On July 1, local media in Tajikistan reported that the farmland of Hadron State in Tajikistan is being attacked by locust swarms from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Locusts have caused the most damage to orchards, vineyards and pastures in the area. The locusts have destroyed almost all potatoes in Hatron. Local farmers are trying to repel the disaster, but the number of locusts is very large and there is a lack of effective locust killing tools.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan, pesticide spraying has been carried out on 5,000 hectares of land by the end of May, an increase of 1,700 hectares compared with the same period last year. But because locusts fly from mountains and highlands and lay eggs in remote places where humans cannot reach, it is difficult to exterminate them. (Reporter Cao Shengji)
